Hariri Pontarini Architects took on the challenge of creating this first in Canada retail concept by re-conceiving what Adidas could be. After looking at Sport Performance Stores in Shanghai, Paris, New-York and San Francisco and inspired by the iconic three-stripe logo, as well as the possibilities for circulation within the retail space, integrating a rich palette of materials, and creating four feature pieces. The three-stripe lighting fixture which runs through the spine of the store, dictating the circulation was carefully crafted of LED lights inside a milky plexi-glass form, to ensure soft white consistent light. The fixture itself was custom crafted and curves around the exterior canopy through the entrance-way and along the centre of the shop, kinking at critical moments along the way. The cash desk, lofted mezzanine and elegant glass partition with walnut treads on the curved stair add sophistication to the shopping experience.
