On October 17th, David Pontarini presented his whitepaper, One Yonge: A Case Study for Complete Vertical Communities as part of the Urban Environmental Issues session at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) International Conference in Shenzen, China. Speakers at this session discussed how new developments are tackling a spectrum of issues brought on by urbanization, such as pollution, congestion, and community access.
Written in collaboration with staff from the City of Toronto, David’s whitepaper examines One Yonge, a five-tower, mixed-use development which is being designed as part of a larger waterfront precinct plan. The paper discusses the challenges faced in the creation of a “complete community” at a vertical scale and density unprecedented in Canada.
