Hariri Pontarini Architects (HPA) is proud to unveil Ontario's Celebration Zone for the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. Starting today, July 10, the temporary pavilions at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre will showcase a line-up of more than 500 free events over 38 days, including concerts and activities.
Designed to create a sense of occasion, the arched and undulating pavilions frame dramatic views across the site and towards Toronto Harbour. Built out of air beams joined by a quilted inflatable fabric skin, the two pavilions reach a peak of 50 feet and 32 feet respectively. Curvilinear openings along the sides give a ‘lightness’ to the overall form and facilitate access and circulation.
