Douglas is Senior Project Manager with over 22 years of experience in a wide range of building types. He has the ability to work with clients on projects from programming and design through to complete working drawings, detailing, and on-site review. In addition to acting as Project Manager, Douglas provides technical guidance at the design development and construction documentation stages of many of Hariri Pontarini Architects’ (HPA) projects. Douglas specializes in high-rise construction and has worked on some of HPA’s most complicated and prolific projects including the Shangri-La Toronto, a 65-storey mixed-use development in downtown core and 7 St. Thomas, the award winning commercial development. His portfolio also includes Edmonton’s ICE District, a major revitalization effort in the heart of downtown Edmonton; the King Portland Centre, a 438,000 sq.ft. commercial and residential development; and The Well, a 7.7 acre mixed-use development that weaves a new district into the fabric of downtown Toronto.
As Senior Project Manager, Douglas’s responsibilities are to advise on potential strategies to achieve the firm’s design objectives, oversee the preparation of construction documents, coordinate code compliance, and materials specifications. Working closely with contractors and trades, Douglas is crucial in field reviews as he provides valuable site condition solutions. He also participates in HPA’s internal peer review process where he consults teams concerning quality control and assurance.
